Who am I?
This is my space.
I write here for me.
I write here because I know I have a bad memory.
I write here, so I can remember.
I write here to focus on the good things.
I may write here to mourn the sad things.
I write here to help me gain perspective.
If you visit, Thank you.
I’d make you cuppa, if I could
I recently joined the Natural Parenting Blog Party, where I answered some ‘hello’ questions. Its probably a good get to know me for any one who is interested, but for the sake of clicking back and forth, I have included it below for you to read.
How many children do you have, and how old are they?
I have 2 wonderful children. My beautiful daughter Jazz is 9 years old and my handsome son Blue is 18 months younger, he’s 8.
Do you have a partner, or are you a single parent?
I have a very supportive, loving, hard working, clever…and may I add very handsome husband. We are just about to celebrate our 10th Wedding anniversary, though we have been together for 16 years. He is my rock, corny but oh-so true.
What are your “hot button” parenting issues?
Allowing kids to be kids and having them act/dress/use language that is age appropriate. Too many children who are obsessing over weight, looks, looking and acting grown up etc….
Have you made any parenting choices that you didn’t think you would make before you were a parent, i.e. cloth diapering a child when you had previously thought it was disgusting?
I was very career focussed before the children came along. I thought that I would be fine about them going to creche, so that I could be the kind of super mum career women that looked so easy to achieve in my head! Crazy!
Is there one book or person in particular that’s heavily influenced your parenting choices?
In the early days, when I doubted every single decision I made regarding the children and when I basically didn’t have the foggiest idea what to do, I read every parenting self help book I could get my hands on. I would also talk to anyone who would listen. Thankfully I feel that I’m well passed all that. I haven’t read a parenting book in years, and I am far more confident with my parenting technique. I still tend to notice how other parents behave in certain situations and either think to myself that I could take a leaf out of their book, or think ‘Whoa man your crazy! Id never do that!” though obviously I just think those things and never say them out loud LOL… unless I’m asked. I still sometimes question my decisions, but I am far happier to live with them than I used to…. and as my husband always says, “the proof of the pudding…”.
If you had to describe each of your children using only one word, what word would you use?
Jazz – Giggly
Blue -Wriggly
Is there one parenting decision that you regret more than others and wish you could change?
Yes. Plenty. I didn’t trust my instincts in the beginning, and got most of my ideas from books. My biggest and main mistake was Creche!
Is there an area of your parenting you wish you were better at?
I feel I struggle with my patience. I have talked to some friends who say they think I am indeed very patient (they may just being polite lol). I try to be patient, and I’m glad that I come across as being patient. But I find it very hard. If I’m going to completely honest, its all an act! I very often find myself thinking terrible things like”oh come on – its not difficult, do it now!”. I wish I found it easier.
Now for the fun questions – is there one particular food or type of food that you could eat every day?
Pudding! Any and all, and after every meal. I try and only eat pudding a couple of times a week, but I could easily eat rice pudding everyday.
Vanilla ice cream or chocolate?
Vanilla
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I like to have a glass of whiskey before I go to bed. I often feel guilty, because I know its not good for me, its a bad habit and whiskey sounds like an old man’s drink…… but its sooooooooooooo warming and tasty that I look forward to it. Every night, just before bed, my hubby will ask “Glass?”, I respond with “No thanks… oh go on then, just a little one”.
If you could be part of any television show, which show would it be?
Ooo Oooo Can I be in the new season of “Curb your Enthusiasm” please? Can I? Can I? Please?
